The Hottest Hair Trends for 2004

A new year sparks the urge for a new look. If you're tired of the same old hair style you've tossed, combed and tried to managed for 365 days last year, then now is a good time to try something new.

While achieving beauty starts from the inside, finding the latest trends needs a little outside work. Clairol shares some of its suggestions on this year's hottest hair trends.

Hair colour: Toss your bottles of red hair dye aside and start shopping for the right shade of blonde for you. From pale, sheer white blonde right through to the medium, ash-toned blondes, the golden hair colour is inching its way back. The trend is to a beige overtone and some hints of dark blonde that almost border on pinky beige or auburn.

But, not everyone wants to be blonde, or should go that drastic.

For the magnificent redheads, warm dark reddish blondes with a shiny bronze and copper auburn are quite popular this year. Or dabble at the end of the red spectrum and try a warm chocolate brown hue. This looks fabulous with a slightly olive complexion.

For the lovely brunettes, the darker the better. The black shades are leaning towards cool tones or highlights. Try a blue to purple undertone, especially if you have very pale skin, this will work great when creating a smokey eye look and colourless lips. Or you can even try neutral eyes with a bolder lipstick colour, like bright pink or neon orange. Bold statements are not shushed in this year's hair colour trends.
