    "Completely" all about hair

Some readers may already be familiar with Charles Worthington's hairstyling literature. Reviews of his City Hair and Big date hair books have appeared on Life Style in the past. In his latest release, Worthington has published both of his prior works along with two new sections: vacation hair and big day hair in his, The Complete Book of Hairstyling (Firefly Books, $19.95).

"What's important to me, as a hairdresser who has witnessed and enjoyed the buzz that people get from a great cut or a new style, is to make fabulous hair accessible to everyone every day of the year," says Worthington.

This 300-page book, includes 350 colour photos and line drawings, step by step instructions, and a story along with four characters preparing for various event in their lives. While the stories may be interesting, the real value of the book comes in many of Worthington's tips.

For example, in his vacation section, Worthington gives clear directions on how to deal with cold, humid, hot or dry heat. Here is some of the advice Worthington gives to those with curly or frizzy hair in humid conditions:

"Make sure you pack a creamy leave-in conditioner for your trip and use it religiously every morning. Using an anti-frizz serum will help unruly curls behave. It coats the hair shaft with silicone, not only sealing the cuticle but also weighing the hair down a little."

He goes on to suggest which hat shapes look best with certain faces and hair cuts, what to pack in your travel bag, and the various hairstyles depending on where in the world one decides to go. Worthington makes his own diagnoses in his, hair doctor section, answering questions like, "my blonde hair looks distinctly green after my vacation. Is there anything I can do?" Or, "my hair seems dull, lackluster and flat after my week away. Why is it looking so bad?"
