WHY SHOULD YOU EXFOLIATE AND WHEN?

Why? In order to give your skin that fresh peachy glow making it softer and more luminous. As well, exfoliating your skin allows it to absorb your moisturizer and creams more efficiently.

Any dead cells that linger on your skin end up preventing your skin care products from getting through. So no matter how expensive your moisturizer is, it won't do you much good if it can't do its job.

Sloughing your skin once a week is plenty, and the best time to do so is just before bedtime. Exfoliation deep-cleanses and makes your skin a little sensitive. A good night's sleep will calm and soothe your skin while you dream away...

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GO ABOUT IT?

Even before twisting the cap off of your exfoliator, you must remove all traces of makeup and/or thoroughly clean all surfaces you are about to exfoliate. You can then apply your granular exfoliator to your wet skin. Using your fingertips, loofah mitt or shower sponge, rub your skin in circular motions, massaging in the direction of your heart; that is, from bottom to top.

Be gentle! Don't scrub your skin too hard; remember, the skin cells are already "dead" and it won't take much to dislodge them. Also, your skin has been aggravated enough by winter's roughness. Actually, if you exfoliate too vigourously, you are doing your skin more harm than good as the skin's regenerative process slows down and makes the skin susceptible to unpleasant infections. What you don't want to discover are scaly eczema lesions on your skin after a beauty session!

So after having covered all areas of your skin, rinse off gently with warm water and apply a moisturizer to help soothe your skin. That's it; you're done!
