Don't
bother challenging the sun - it's a losing battle! Instead, use common
sense to protect yourself from these ultraviolet rays.
UVB rays
are the ones responsible for painful sunburns. As for UVA rays, they're
the ones that cover our skin with brown spots and are the culprits for
ageing our skin. A good sunscreen should include a protection against UVA
and UVB rays and should quench the skin by hydrating it after exposure to
these oh-so aggressive rays. Protect and repair - that's the ticket!
For very fair and extremely sensitive skins several companies that
make sun care products recommend an SPF of 60.
Extreme Sunblock Lotion SPF 60 by Vichy
Cream SPF 60 for sun intolerance by Ombrelle
Anthelios 60 by La Roche-Posay
Because of their high sun
protection factor allowing 60 times more protection than you would get
without it, these creams create an almost impenetrable barrier against the
sun's harmful rays.
For less sensitive skins a 30 SPF is
recommended at the beginning of the season. The skin has been protected
all winter covered up in warm clothing and is, therefore, quite vulnerable
to outdoor irritants. Your skin's sensitivity will increase in tropical
countries where the degree of sunshine differs from that of our Nordic
countries.
Ombrelle proposes 2 products with a 30 SPF : Normal Skin and
Extreme
Biotherm also offers
High Protection Sunblock Sun Intolerant Skin, SPF 30, and High Protection
Sunblock Fair and Sensitive Skin, SPF 25. Both creams contain glycerol, a
hydrating agent that prevents skin from becoming dry.
Sunblock for the face SPF 30 and Sunblock for the body SPF 30 by
Estee Lauder also protect the skin very well. But you'd better hurry!

For those little touch ups, Facial Sunscreen Stick by Body Shop
and Health Defense Stick by Neutrogena are incredible little wonders! A
little touch here and there and, voila, you're set to go!
Creams with a 15 SPF are perfect for daily use on skins that are
not sensitive and that have already been exposed to the season's first
rays. It is the minimum recommended by Health Canada.
Protective Gel Cream - oil free SPF 15 by Vichy leaves no greasy
