Exhibition
With a fantastic record attendance, the Harrogate Lingerie
& Swimwear Exhibition injected some well needed summer
sunshine to a waterlogged Harrogate this August with a stunning
show of collections for spring - summer 2005.
Taking place from the 22nd to 24th August, the trade show
saw a 15% increase on last year’s attendance with
more than 1,530 visitors attending the industry’s
largest exhibition. Event organizer Janie Fox from Brintex
commented: “This was the best summer exhibition to
date and we are delighted with the attendance figures. The
15% increase in visitors along with the positive feedback
from both exhibitors and buyers proves that Harrogate is
so much more than just a shop window and without doubt the
only exhibition in the UK worth consideration when sourcing
intimate apparel.”
Over 300 collections from national and international lingerie
& swimwear brands were on show throughout four halls
offering buyers the ideal arena from which to choose their
spring/summer 2005 collections. Showcasing collections from
brand leaders such as Triumph & Playtex through to niche
brand Tabooboo and designer label Elle Macpherson Intimates,
Harrogate proved to be the exhibition to attend this season.
“We have had a great reaction and response from the
trade to Crystelle. There has been lots of interest and
orders from a wide selection of stores who have been extremely
impressed with our higher profit margins. Harrogate is the
perfect exhibition to showcase new brands and we will definitely
be back next season.” Commented Ken Campbell, director
for Crystelle.
Back for a second season, the Directional Design area featured
a number of new exhibitors to accommodate the increased
interest in niche fashion brands. Damaris Evans, managing
director of Damaris Ltd who were showing for the first time
said: “I have made contact with stores that I wouldn’t
otherwise have seen and have secured a number of stockists
for my new diffusion line - Mimi Holliday. I would like
my new line to grow with the show so will be back for the
next few seasons.”
Harrogate remains the comprehensive exhibition for the
intimate apparel industry with a cross section of brands
available under one roof. Martin Hooper, sales director
for Playtex summed up the buoyant feeling at the exhibition:
“We have been encouraged by the number of potential
new customers and the quality of buyers attending the show.
We have so much to offer the trade and Harrogate gives us
the perfect opportunity to show it all.”
Dates for next year’s Harrogate Lingerie & Swimwear
Exhibition have been confirmed as 20th - 22nd February 2005
and 21st - 23rd August 2005.
