The next Harrogate Lingerie and Swimwear Exhibition will take
place between 17th to 19th August and looks set to be every
bit as good as the last.
Over 130 exhibitors show some 360 collections to the visiting
buyers and retailers who come to see the latest designs and
trends and source new collections for their shops and stores.
The event is free to visit and you will find a vibrant, professional
atmosphere where you can conduct your business alongside friends
and colleagues.
We very much look forward to seeing you in Harrogate.

cannot be admitted *

MISS LALA PRESENTS SPRING SUMMER 09 Stand M10
Miss Lala has travelled far afield this summer with a collection
in glowing silk colours and exquisite prints.
Her first group is Les Girls – a collection of silk bra, high
50s knickers in contrasting colours of apricot and rich turquoise.
It is available with or without the images of 1950s pin up girls
and also has a make up bag and eye mask to complete the look.
The little bed jacket with Peter Pan collar can be worn as
an outerwear piece and the tee shirts are sensational for the
hot summer in Amalfi.
Next is a silk print called Vintage Pearls in a vibrant emerald
green with a pink silk tulle trim . A stunning double sided
silk kimono completes the group of bra and knickers including
some wonderful pink plain items to merchandise alongside the
prints.
Chocolate Box is reminiscent of 1950s pleated silk fabrics
and is all hand done in our factory. Available in Miss Lala
pink or turquoise, this group is a beautiful plain bra and knickers
set with a twist.
Powder Puff is a Sophie Hallette Leivers peach lace overlaid
on a mint silk solid base. Wonderfully feminine and luxurious,
complemented with its own silk lingerie envelope bag. We are
also featuring a guipiere in this group for the evening.
Rainbow – Miss Lala plays tennis in a candy pink and cream
silk set, encrusted with multicoloured gems in a heart shape.
Reminiscent of the 30s but with a touch of 70s glamour. Relax
on the plane with a sparkling eye mask and make up bag to complement.
The kimono with the giant sparkling heart back will be a showstopper.
Les Patisseries de Lala - A truly scrumptious cotton print
of 1940s patisseries with a heart mesh back in pastel colours.
Available in bra and knickers in several delicious colours.
Travel Knickers – As Miss Lala has travelled the world, she
has created several stand alone panties with mesh appliqué and
print detail showing her favourite items in London, Paris and
Tokyo . Pile these high beside your till point .
We are thrilled to announce our collaboration this season with
Laura Lees, one of our favourite UK designers, famous for her
own collection and her collaborations with Alexander McQueen
and others.
Laura and Miss Lala have come up with a beautiful powder blue
collection embroidered with their iconic rock and roll and Vegas
motifs.

MYA BLUE BEACH BRAND EXPANSION
Lindsey Brown talks about her new plans for her beachwear brand
Mya Blue Beach, taking on agents for Europe & distributors for
the US and Canada and her move forward as an agent for Valery.
“As an agency, our product portfolio works well together and
we want to continue to work with Valery. Most importantly, we
have a good relationship with Valery and they are really supportive
of my move forward.” Lindsey Brown
Since we started in 2000, Mya Blue has grown from strength
to strength. Valery beachwear and lingerie brands now have a
strong consumer following with UK sales up 20% and because of
this growth, importing is a full time job for me. Hosiery sales
are also forecast to increase this winter and with the introduction
of Girardi hosiery to our portfolio, we are rather busy!
Two years ago, I decided to design our own range of kaftans,
Mya Blue Beach. It was a small project at first to make sure
we could manage the extra business of designing and manufacturing
our own brand, alongside Valery and we were pleased when sales
rocketed by 70% after the first season.
We know independents have a loyal customer base who want to
buy something new each season, so this year we will be launching
kaftans in new styles and fabrics, dresses and tops to add to
the range. In addition Mya Blue is in the process of taking
on distributors for the US and Canada and setting up agents
to sell the Mya Blue Beach brand in Europe. It’s quite a big
expansion for Mya Blue and it’s the opportunity of a lifetime
for me to develop my own brand.
To ensure we can continue to provide you with a great service,
I have decided the best way forward for everyone is if I revert
to being agent for Valery instead of an importer.
On the surface, nothing will change. Sharon and I will continue
to manage your accounts and we will continue to be your main
point of contact. All the orders already placed with Mya Blue
for winter will be delivered and invoiced as normal from our
head office in Leicestershire.
The only difference will be that orders for delivery as of
January 2009, will be invoiced and arrive from Italy. Prices
will continue to be in Sterling and payments can be made in
the same way, by cheque, transfer or card.
Sharon Cork who has been working for Mya Blue as a sub agent
will represent Valery as an Agent for the South and I will be
the Valery Agent for the Midlands, North, and Ireland.
As an agency, our product portfolio works well together and
we want to continue to work with Valery. We love the femininity
of the lingerie and its pricing hits the spot for current trends
towards consumers wanting quality and style rather than lower
priced mass marketed brands. We've also been inundated with
feedback from customers telling us that Valery beachwear out
performs competitors in terms of consumer appeal and its sales
in store.
Most importantly, we have a good relationship with Valery and
they are really supportive of my move forward and we will work
together to ensure it will be a smooth transition.
At Harrogate, we will be showing the full Valery range of lingerie
and beachwear and my new collection of Mya Blue Beach.
If I don’t see you before, I hope you will join Sharon, Sue,
Vanessa and I at Harrogate for our Sunday night drinks on our
normal stand position of B1 to toast our new venture!
Kind Regards, Lindsey Brown
